The
Blue Lantern |
Biography:
When Ganthet and Sayd were exiled because of the fact
that they displayed too much emotion (even forming an emotional attachment
to one another) they set out to form their own Corps to defend against the
prophecy of the Blackest Night, and to be a beacon of hope for the times to
come.
Oath: "In fearful day,
Blue Lantern Powers: Unlike other Corps, the Blue Lanterns have very different abilities. They have the ability to travel easily through space, possibly generate force fields and beams of light. But, unlike the other Corps, they can inspire hope and actually enhance the power of a member of the Green Lantern Corps (Hal Jordan) by giving him hope, thereby enhancing his willpower, enhancing it to levels that are beyond the ring's power. It is unknown, however, if this works on any Corps, since the Red Lanterns use rage to give them power, in which case hope would lessen their power. They have even shown the ability to reignite a dying star and give it new power, actually reversing the age. Unlike most (or all) other Corps, Blue Lanterns do not need to recharge their rings. Instead, they are powered by beings who are given hope. The more people with hope, the more energy is restored.
Members: Recruiting in the Blue Lantern Corps
is a very careful and long process. A Blue Lantern is hand picked, brought
to Odym, and are shown what would happen if they were to accept. This
process takes days. Then, once that Lantern is trained, he or she seeks
another person to be the Lantern for another sector. Saint Walker (Sector 1)
Appearances: Green Lantern #25 (first appearance)
